My data looks wrong or columns are missing

Missing header row

SheetForge treats the first row of your spreadsheet as the column header row. If your first row contains data instead of headers, your column names will look wrong. Add a header row as the first row of your spreadsheet and re-import.

Merged cells

Merged cells in Excel can cause columns to appear empty or shifted. Unmerge all cells before importing for best results.

Columns showing as blank

If some columns appear empty, check that the column header cell is not blank. Blank header cells cause SheetForge to ignore that column.

Dates not recognised

If date columns are showing as plain text, ensure dates use a consistent, standard format (e.g. YYYY-MM-DD or DD/MM/YYYY). Mixed formats in the same column prevent type detection.

Hidden rows or columns

Excel hidden rows and columns are included in the import. There is no way to exclude them from within SheetForge - hide or delete them in Excel before importing.
