Write-back to Google Sheets
Requirements
- Plan: Pro plan or higher
- Google account: Must be connected to SheetForge with write permission
Connecting your Google account
On the generator page, click "Connect Google account". You will be redirected to Google to authorise SheetForge. Grant permission to read and edit your Google Sheets. Once connected, your Google account is linked to your SheetForge account.
How sync works
When you edit or add a row in a shared app that was built from a Google Sheet, SheetForge automatically calls the Google Sheets API to update the sheet in real time. You will see a "Synced to Google Sheets" notification in the app.
What gets synced?
The entire dataset (headers + all rows) is written back to the source sheet each time a change is made. This overwrites the sheet content from cell A1 downwards, preserving your column headers.
Multi-tab Google Sheets
For multi-tab apps, each sheet is synced independently to its corresponding Google Sheets tab. Only the active tab is synced when you make a change.
Note: Google Sheets write-back requires your connected Google account to have editor access to the sheet. If the connection expires, reconnect via your account settings.
