Using the Kanban view
How Kanban works
The Kanban view groups your records into swimlane columns based on a categorical column - typically a Status, Stage, or Category field. Each unique value in that column becomes a column on the board.
Which column is used?
SheetForge automatically detects the best column to use for grouping - usually the column with the fewest unique values that looks like a status field (e.g., "Status", "Stage", "Priority", "Phase").
Filtering Kanban
The filter bar above the board applies to the Kanban view too. Use it to focus on a subset of records.
Tips for best results
- Keep your status column values short (under 20 characters)
- Use consistent capitalisation (e.g. always "In Progress", not a mix)
- Limit unique status values to 8 or fewer for readable columns
