Approval workflows
What are approval workflows?
Approval workflows let you require a designated approver to review and approve any row edits or additions before they are committed to the underlying data source. This is useful for quality control, compliance, or any process where changes need sign-off.
Setting up an approval workflow
- Open your app and go to Settings > Write-back
- Toggle on Require approval
- Select the team members who can approve changes (one or more approvers)
- Choose the notification method: email, in-app, or both
- Click Save
How it works for editors
When an editor submits a change, it enters a Pending approval state. The change is visible in the app with a "Pending" badge but is not written to the data source until approved.
How it works for approvers
Approvers receive a notification and can review the pending change in the Approvals panel. They can approve (commits the change) or reject (discards it with an optional comment).
Plan requirement
Approval workflows require the Team plan.
