SheetForge in ChatGPT

The privacy notice for the SheetForge plugin for ChatGPT, which turns a spreadsheet into a web app. Everything else about SheetForge is in our main privacy policy.

Last updated: 6 October 2026. SheetForge is run by APPS 365 LTD (England and Wales, company 13955007), the data controller.

What the plugin receives

  • Your spreadsheet - the CSV or Excel file you give ChatGPT, or the table you paste. For Excel files we read only the first sheet. Spreadsheets can hold personal data about other people (names, emails, phone numbers): only use data you are allowed to share.
  • Your choices - the app name and the views you ask for.
  • An anonymous ChatGPT user code - ChatGPT sends a code that stands for your ChatGPT account without naming you. If it is missing we use the internet address (IP address) the request came from.

We do not receive your name, your email address or your chat with ChatGPT. No account is needed.

Why we use it

  • To build your app: we read the columns, choose the views that suit them and store the rows so the app's link works. If you only ask which views would suit your spreadsheet, nothing is stored.
  • To limit how many apps one person can make in an hour, using the anonymous code in scrambled (one-way hashed) form.
  • To keep the service working: we log which tool ran, when, the names of the inputs it was given (such as "file" or "views", never what was in them), whether it worked, our error message if it did not, and how long it took - never your spreadsheet.

Our lawful basis is your request: you asked ChatGPT to make the app (contract), and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and available.

Who can see it

  • Anyone with the app's link can view the app and its rows. The link is long and random, but share it only with people who may see the data.
  • OpenAI - we send back to ChatGPT the app's name, its column names, its first five rows and its links, so ChatGPT can show the app card. Your use of ChatGPT is covered by OpenAI's privacy policy.
  • Our UK hosting provider runs the servers and backups, on our instructions only.

We do not sell your data or use it for advertising, and SheetForge does not use it to train any AI model.

How long we keep it

  • The app and its rows - stored encrypted at rest. The link lasts 30 days; the app's data is then deleted within a further 30 days by our daily clean-up.
  • If you save the app to your SheetForge account, it follows your account's rules in our main privacy policy, and you can delete it at any time from My apps.
  • The scrambled user code in the hourly limit - about an hour.
  • The tool log (tool, time, input names, success or our error message, scrambled user code; no spreadsheet data) - 90 days.

Your choices and rights

  • You choose when ChatGPT uses the plugin, and you can disconnect SheetForge at any time in ChatGPT's settings.
  • To delete an app before it expires, save it to your SheetForge account and delete it from My apps, or email hello@sheetforge.ai with the app's link and we will delete it.
  • Under UK GDPR you can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of your data, and object to how we use it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

The plugin is for adults and businesses. It is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
